As an educator, I will help my students grow academically and morally. My classroom will always be a safe and supportive environment. I will analyze data from formative and summative assessments to understand how my lessons are impacting students' growth. I will nurture my students to become individuals by providing choice regarding preferred style of instruction and assignments whenever possible. I will build confidence in my students in their ability to read and write, while also teaching them to be kind and respectful to themselves and others. I will recognize that students have a world outside of the classroom that may affect the way they act inside of the classroom. I will be forgiving and understanding when students are having a bad day while still keeping my students accountable for their actions.
Classroom Management Philosophy
I will implement routines and procedures, following Wong's example, by introducing them on the first day and then continuing to reinforce them every day. My classroom management philosophy will encourage open communication, and I will provide a safe environment to enable my students to comfortably make mistakes and then learn from them. I will create relationships with my students and their parents early on to allow for the respect needed to have a successful classroom. If students stray from the procedures or routines set into place, I will speak to them privately to understand why they are acting inappropriately and then assess a course of action.
