My name is Rachel Vitek and I am an English Education Major at the University of Mary. I completed two years of college at Bismarck State College and then transferred to the University of Mary. I plan to student teach in the Spring and would like to stay in the Bismarck/Mandan area. With each class that I have been enrolled in and every classroom I have observed with practicum, my enthusiasm and passion for teaching English and Literature has grown. I love reading and writing and I hope to nurture students as they find their own interest in reading and writing. I also love playing basketball and volleyball and hope to eventually become involved as a coach in either sport.
I grew up in Center, North Dakota with two sisters, one older and one younger. I attended Center-Stanton High School and participated in many extracurriculars such as basketball, volleyball, drama, band, and choir. I have always enjoyed keeping busy as I still do while in school and working at Hit Inc as a Direct Support Professional. I also love to travel and explore new places with my sisters. I've been to 16 different states so far and two different countries. Since I grew up in a small town, I had the same two teachers for English all through middle and high school and they both have had a big impact on my love and confidence in English. They were incredibly supportive and nurturing as I grew as a reader and writer. I already have plans to incorporate some of their teaching styles into my future lessons. I hope in my future classroom that I will be able to help someone like me find their passion, and help students that struggle with English to understand the subject better. |
